This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site.

The AI Strategy and Innovation Lead is a strategic partner and leader who will drive the ownership and accountability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms across Omnichannel Excellence capabilities and guide global colleagues for how this could be scaled for other ROPU/ OPUs as it relates to customer facing teams. This role works cross functionally with IT and business partners to leverage machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, generative AI and other relevant technologies to accelerate company objectives and business critical priorities as defined by CMC. The role is pivotal in shaping our AI strategy and driving implementation of our efforts. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise and business acumen, ensuring AI solutions not only address technical challenges but also support strategic organization objectives.
The AI Strategy and Innovation Lead will oversee the development, deployment, and optimization of AI-driven solutions, ensuring they align with business objectives for commercial teams. The leader in this role will set and direct the strategy, manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the successful implementation of AI initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops, articulates, and executes a comprehensive AI platform strategy aligned with Omnichannel Excellence goals and objectives.
- Guides Commercial and Medicine leadership to ensure alignment between AI initiatives and overall business strategy through collaboration.
- Orchestrates a cross-functional team of business leaders, AI specialists, data scientists, and IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment overseeing multiple AI projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
- Ensures the successful deployment of AI models, working closely with IT and business teams to integrate solutions into existing workflows globally and locally.
- Collaborates with Legal and Data Privacy on the creation of governance practices to ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI. Develop and lead a program to enforce policy adherence.
- Stays abreast of industry regulations and standards related to AI and data privacy, ensuring compliance within the life sciences domain.
- Identifies and cultivates strategic partnerships with external organizations, research institutions, and technology companies to enhance our capabilities and stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
- Works in close partnership and collaboration with the AI CoE to collectively stand-up AI for HP at Boehringer. Includes pre-engagement prep, post-engagement debriefs, strategy design and refinement as well as refinement and scaling of solutions.
Requirements
- BA in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or in a related field required; MBA or PhD is preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Five-plus (5+) years hands on experience of in-depth knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and other relevant technologies including developing algorithms/models.
- Ten-plus (10+) years in the life sciences or healthcare industry.
- Certification of Lean Six Sigma -Black Belt, or Master Black Belt, with additional change management and agile certification(s) preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills and commitment to interdisciplinary thinking - ability to work across teams focused on strategy, technology, and data in service to new product solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing change in a complex environment.
- Superior communications skills (written and verbal) all levels including executive teams.
- Negotiation and relationship-building skills, including cross-functional collaboration, influencing senior leadership, conflict resolution, strategic partnership-building and vendor and partnership management.
- Ability to showcase success in handling ambiguous and dynamic projects - coordinating the work of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to synthesize and distill complex issues and business problems.
