Overview:
Fleet Feet is seeking a strategic, communityminded Director of Field Marketing to lead our Sales Operations team and amplify the Fleet Feet brand across every market we serve. You will architect and execute national fieldmarketing programs, in areas such as medical outreach, community engagement, major race expos, and more, that drive traffic, grow sales, and deepen our connection with local runners.
Partnering crossfunctionally with Brand Marketing, Vendor Management, Purchasing, Franchise Operations, and our companyowned store group, you’ll ensure every market has the tools, guidance, and resources to reach new customers and deliver exceptional brand experiences. This position is based in Carrboro, NC, but internal candidates who reside in a city in which we operate a company-owned store will be considered for remote work.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Sales Operations team, setting annual and quarterly objectives and key results and fostering a culture of service and performance
- Contribute to the Retail Operations Department's strategic plan and serve on the Operational Leadership Team
- Chair crossdepartmental task forces to deliver highimpact national initiatives and major race expos
Outreach & Community Engagement
- Design and execute national medicalmarketing programs, connecting healthcare providers to local Fleet Feet stores
- Create scalable communityoutreach playbooks
- Own national partnerships with key community and raceseries partners, ensuring local activation and brand consistency
- Pilot and evaluate outofhome marketing tactics to expand brand reach
Major Race Events
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of major race expos across the country, achieving topline sales and netincome targets for expos
- Analyze postevent performance and implement continuous improvements
- Partner with Vendor Management and Purchasing to secure sponsorships, booth activations, and product assortments that elevate the runner experience and drive expo sales
Training Programs
- Ensure every company-owned market is enabled to deliver Fleet Feet’s local training program strategy, from 5K to marathon
- Align national virtualtraining programs with local offerings for a seamless customer experience
- Measure program effectiveness and iterate for engagement, retention, and revenue growth
Tools, Resources & Enablement
- Own and enhance the Marketing Log template, driving adoption and data accuracy across markets
- Develop howto guides, SOPs, and ondemand training content covering outreach, events, and program execution
- Maintain and refine job descriptions for storelevel field marketing roles to support consistent hiring and performance standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
- 7+ years field marketing, event marketing, or community engagement experience in a multiunit retail, franchise, or consumerbrand environment
- Demonstrated success leading distributed teams and complex, revenuedriving events
- Proven ability to translate strategy into executable plans, with strong project management skills and financial acumen
- Track record of building partnerships with vendors, race directors, and community organizations
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and crossfunctional influence skills
- Travel required (~25%) to major events and markets nationwide
- Passion for running, fitness, and creating inclusive community experience
