Head of Marketing, Communications & Events

California - Bay Area, Hybrid

National Grid Partners (NGP) is the corporate venture and innovation arm of National Grid plc, investing in start-ups and breakthrough technologies that are Superpowered to accelerate the energy transition.

The Head of Marketing, Communications & Events is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering a Superpowered, high-impact marketing, communications, and events strategy that drives business priorities, elevates brand positioning, and strengthens stakeholder engagement.

Operating with a high degree of professional autonomy, this role holds accountability for designing and executing a Superpowered function, aligning strategic vision with delivery excellence, while working within agreed Group frameworks and direction.

What you'll be doing

  • Create and deliver a long-term plan for marketing, communications, and events that supports the business's goals and aligns with the wider company strategy
  • Be responsible for how the business tells its story, making sure the brand, messaging, and tone are clear and consistent
  • Oversee all marketing, communications, media, and events so they work well together
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key people across the business and the wider organisation
  • Manage and develop a small team of specialists
  • Look after budgets and manage external agencies and suppliersMake sure all work follows company rules and protects the organization's reputation

About you

Essential:

Experience in marketing, communications, or events

A good understanding of how to manage a company's reputation and communicate clearly

Experience working in large or complex organisations

Desirable:

Experience in sectors like utilities, energy, infrastructure, or other innovative environments.

Experience working in the investment or venture arm of a large international company

A relevant degree or professional qualification.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree/postgraduate degree level with demonstrable professional development
  • Significant experience as an industry leading communications campaigns practitioner, ideally with a track record of success with both internal and external audiences

More Information

Salary

$225,000 - $250,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
