Our manufacturing client is seeking a full time, direct hire Industrial Designer II to help bring consumer products to life across watersports, toys, furniture, and related categories. This position is ideal for a designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and can independently drive projects from sketch through production. They will be working primarily on ODM client projects. This role is hybrid with potential for travel in the US and potentially internationally down the line.
This is a great job for a person with 3-6 years of experience ready to grow in their Industrial Design career. This is NOT a senior level role and candidates with purely mechanical design or 3D design will not be a good fit.
Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Lead design research, ideation, concept development, CADD and CAID modeling, rendering, graphic treatments, and design for manufacturing sheets
- Analyze and revise prototypes while ensuring solutions meet cost, safety, ergonomics, manufacturing limits, and market requirements
- Support client driven ODM modifications and new catalog product development
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, sales, and business development to refine scope, solve manufacturing issues, and prepare design briefs
- Execute inventor concepts and prepare review assets, R and P sheets, and design documentation
- Maintain organized files, update project trackers, and contribute to internal design manuals
- Stay current on design tools, trends, and market competition while proactively generating new ideas
- Proficiency in CADD and CAID tools such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Pro Engineer, and AutoCAD
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including high frequency welding, mold injection, and printing applications
- Strong sketching, prototyping, and visual communication skills
- Ability to manage timelines, present compelling concepts, and complete design for manufacturing sheets independently
- Curiosity, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills across diverse teams and demographics
Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor degree in industrial design or related field
- 3 to 6 years of experience
- Proficiency in CAD software, Microsoft Office 360, and Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, and Keyshot
- Experience with InDesign, Lightroom, Rhino, Alias, or similar tools is a plus
