Family Nurse Practitioner or MD Family Practice Provider
Expanding clinic to support the needs of providers and patients
Work with other personnel of the health center and the physicians, to make the delivery of health care more efficient, more comprehensive, and improve the quality in accordance with the policies and procedures of PCHC, the laws of Rhode Island, and appropriate standards of good care. All duties/responsibilities are performed across life cycle (infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric) as appropriate for training and certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take a complete medical history and do a physical examination on PCHC patients as clinically appropriate.
- Diagnose and treat common medical problems in your specific fields of competence. Consult with the appropriate PCHC physician at the FNP's health center, or with the appropriate PCHC physician on call, or with the Associate Medical Director, as needed and in accordance with PCHC policies and procedures to assure good care.
- Manage acute and chronic illness collaborating as needed with the PCHC M.D. and assist in coordinating care for these patients with other members of the health center and/or with services outside of the health center.
- Provide patient education and preventive medicine as clinically indicated.
- Provide counseling and support as clinically appropriate, in areas of social problems recognizing the emotional component of illness, making referrals to mental health professionals as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- Education - RN and Family Nurse Practitioner training program in accredited college or university.
- Must be licenses as RN and as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges in Rhode Island.
- Must be certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Must conform to prescribed standards for continuing education as set down by appropriate state or national advisory boards.
- Experience - One year in a community health setting.
