The Co-op Brands (CB) Senior Planning Manager aligns enterprise financial and omni-channel plans with the product team’s assortment strategies. This job helps REI succeed by leading the Co-op Brands financial planning process. The manager ensures strategic and annual KPIs for sales, profitability, and inventory are planned and executed. In-season risks are managed, and opportunities are maximized. Builds and supports solid relationships with Co-op Brand Product, CB Supply Planning, and Merchandising teams. Influences effective business decisions. Manages and develops the financial planning skills of Co-op Brands Planners. Works across divisions to share current and future business trends.
The Sr. Manager of Co-op Brand Planning acts as a trusted advisor to DVP and VP leadership. This includes managers across the product, planning, and CB teams. The manager provides key analytics and strategic context to help shape recommendations each year, month, and quarter. Key partners for this role are mainly Director, DVP, and VP level.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Leading the Way
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices. Ensures the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages.
- Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results.
- Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing selections.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results.
- Establishes and maintains visibility within the department.
- Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action
Responsibilities
- Drive planning processes and timelines supporting a ~$250M receipt budget and $550M revenue business, with plans to grow to $1B. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and enterprise strategies.
- Own and execute annual department financial plans (sales, margin, turn, receipt flow), rooted in company goals, market trends, and vendor/class opportunities.
- Integrate product, merchandising, and supply planning strategies into both short- and long-range financial and assortment plans.
- Quantify and support Co-op Brand roadmap goals, including IMU planning, lifecycle strategies, and product introduction/exit timing.
- Ensure team adherence to MAP pricing strategy to drive profitability and consistency.
- Guide strategic OTB reviews and recommend actions based on business performance.
- Drive seasonal hindsight reviews and customer-focused planning to inform future architecture and assortment decisions.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of CB Planners to meet functional expectations, deliverables, and timelines aligned to broader brand and merchandising goals.
- Foster strategic alignment across Co-op Brands, Merchandising, and Planning stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively across all levels, influencing peers and executives, and championing change and innovation in planning practices.
- Promote planning education and understanding across the organization; continuously evolve team processes for maximum business impact.

Required Qualifications
- 10 + years of Merchandising planning experience.
- 5+ years of management experience or demonstration of management skills.
- Exceptional understanding of merchandising KPIs.
- Planning experience to include line of business understanding (Retail planning, Online planning, Private Brand planning).
- Demonstrated ability to drive curiosity, project trends and articulate risks and opportunities and problem solve.
- Ability to apply strategic mindset to develop and translate high-level plans into detailed actions.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of cost accounting.
- Lifecycle Item Management and Assortment Planning experience.

Pay Range
$125,300.00 - $212,900.00 per year
